At United Air Temp, we want to help Jacksonville homeowners optimize their homes’ energy efficiency and get money back as a result.
When you invest in a new water heater or HVAC system, you save energy in your home and pay less for utilities. Now you can save even more with state and federal tax rebates and incentives!
What Is the DSIRE?
The DSIRE is the Database of State Incentives for Renewables. This database keeps track of the incentives and policies for home energy rebates. The DSIRE database was started 20 years ago by the Department of Energy, and it’s operated by the NC Clean Energy Technology Center at North Carolina State University.
Through the DSIRE, you can find information about over 2,800 active policies that qualify you for rebates and tax credits. You can search the database by state and even by ZIP code for local programs.
Through the database, you can also find information about solar energy rebates, HVAC efficiency rebates, energy incentives, and incentives for electric vehicles.
Federal Energy Efficiency Tax Credits for Residential Homes
The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 enables tax credits and point-of-sale rebates to help you save on many home improvements, specifically installing new HVAC systems and water heaters.
If you’re planning your replacement, make sure you choose energy-efficient systems that meet the following requirements:
-
Central air conditioners must be rated 16 SEER or higher.
-
Gas furnaces must have a 95% AFUE or higher.
-
Heat pumps must be rated 15 SEER or higher.
-
Water heaters must be rated 0.82 UEF or 90% thermal efficiency if they’re gas-powered, while electric water heaters must be rated 2.2 UEF or higher.
Not only will you save money on your energy bills with one of these systems, but you will also qualify for a federal tax credit to help you save even more.
Rebates & Tax Credits for Homes in Florida
In addition to the federal programs, many programs are available that are specific to Florida homeowners.
If you plan to replace your HVAC systems or water heater, check the DSIRE website to see which rebates and tax credits are available.
